Flip Ultra HD 3rd Generation Review
Flip turned the world of pocket video cameras on its head when they first hit the market and the constant innovation with the likes of the Flip Ultra HD 3rd Generation has been forcing other video camera manufacturers to keep up with what Flip is doing. Some companies just take the shortcut of copying what Flip does full stop. One example of that is the standard Flip pop-out USB arm that’s been copied by several other pocket camcorder manufacturers. Imitation is the greatest form of flattery they say and when it comes to the Flip this is true of the entire pocket camcorder market. Now that they have released the Flip Ultra HD 3rd Generation with a FlipPort I’m sure even more manufacturers are going to copy that feature.
How Long Can the Flip Ultra HD Record?
The Flip Ultra HD is also known as the 2 Hour. Why? Because it has an 8GB internal memory capacity which is enough to record up to 2 hours of video footage. You can get the Flip 1 Hour camera for about $50 less but it lacks all the features that you’d really want in a superior pocket camcorder, like the Flip Ultra HD 2 hour for example.
What is the Video Quality like on the Flip Video Ultra HD?
In terms of video quality you’re going to be able to easily record some great HD video footage at 60 frames per second with this 720p video camera. And it’s easy too, all you need to do is turn the Flip Ultra HD on and hit the red button to start recording. No complex menu systems, just point and shoot. The digital zoom is also there to help you get close-ups of those important moments.
Lastly you have image stabilization to help prevent those blurry action videos that everyone hates. Maybe the Flip will be the first camcorder to take clear, focused footage of a UFO somewhere?

Flip Ultra HD 3rd Generation Review
Share Your Videos Easily with FlipShare Software
The software for the Flip (FlipShare) is actually built into the camera so there’s no separate software suite. It makes managing your videos easy for anyone of pretty much any age. You can upload your finished videos directly to Facebook, YouTube or even MySpace (does anyone use MySpace anymore btw?)
What is the FlipPort?
You also get another new and important feature with the Flip Ultra HD, the FlipPort. This is a new method of connectivity for the Flip for 3rd party accessories that are in development as you’re reading this. Other connectivity comes in the form of the HDMI port that you can use to connect the Flip directly to your TV.
How Long Does the Battery Last on the Flip Ultra HD 3rd Generation?
Your Lithium-Ion battery is rechargeable but how long does each battery charge last? Well you can expect to get up to 1.5 hours of recording time between charges. There’s also the option of using 3 X AAA batteries to provide backup power for a short time.
Capture those precious moments forever with your Flip Ultra HD video camera … because they’re not going to happen twice in a lifetime.
